How it works
What is IBPS?
- Age: 20-30 years (age relaxation for reserved category candidates as per government norms)
- Educational Qualification: A graduate degree from a recognized university.
Candidates must also meet the minimum cut-off marks prescribed by IBPS in each section of the examination and in the overall score. The selection process usually consists of a preliminary examination, main examination, and an interview.
- Preliminary examination: objective type test for English language, quantative aptitude, and reasoning ability.
- Main examination: objective type test for reasoning ability, quantative aptitude, general awareness, English language and computer knowledge.
- Interview: candidates who clear the main exam will be called for an interview conducted by participating organizations.
The final selection is based on the combined scores of the main examination and the interview. IBPS also conducts exams for Specialist Officer, Probationary Officer/Management Trainee, Clerical Cadre and RRB (Regional Rural Banks) Officer posts.

Here’s a general syllabus for IBPS exam:
Preliminary Examination:
- English Language (30 marks) – Reading Comprehension, Cloze Test, Para jumbles, Multiple Meaning/Error Spotting, Fill in the Blanks, Sentence Rearrangement.
- Quantitative Aptitude (35 marks) – Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Data Interpretation.
- Reasoning Ability (35 marks) – Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, Puzzle, Seating Arrangement, Blood Relations, Syllogism, Inequality.
Main Examination:
- Reasoning Ability (50 marks) – Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, Puzzle, Seating Arrangement, Blood Relations, Syllogism, Inequality.
- Quantitative Aptitude (50 marks) – Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Data Interpretation.
- General Awareness (40 marks) – Banking and Financial Awareness, Current Affairs, Static Awareness.
- English Language (40 marks) – Reading Comprehension, Cloze Test, Para jumbles, Multiple Meaning/Error Spotting, Fill in the Blanks, Sentence Rearrangement.
- Computer Knowledge (20 marks) – Basic Computer Terminology, History and Future of Computers, Basic Internet Knowledge and Protocols, Security and Networking Concepts, Database Management Systems, MS Office.

How it works
What is SSC?
SSC (Staff Selection Commission) is an organization under the Government of India that conducts competitive exams to recruit candidates for various non-gazetted posts in the various Ministries/Departments/Organizations of the Government of India.
- Age: 18-27 years (age relaxation for reserved category candidates as per government norms)
- Educational Qualification: The minimum educational qualification required for SSC exams varies for different posts. For most posts, a candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board/university.
- Written Examination: objective type test for general intelligence and reasoning, general awareness, quantative aptitude and English language.
- Skill Test/Computer Proficiency Test: for certain posts, skill test/computer proficiency test is also conducted to assess the candidate’s proficiency in a specific skill or computer application.
The final selection is based on the performance in the written examination and skill test/computer proficiency test. SSC conducts exams for various posts including Junior Engineer, Sub-Inspector in CAPFs, Junior Hindi Translator, Stenographer, and others.

Here’s a general syllabus for SSC CGL (Combined Graduate Level) exam:
Tier-I Examination:
- General Intelligence and Reasoning (50 marks) – Analogies, Similarities and Differences, Space Visualization, Problem Solving, Analysis, Judgment, Decision Making, Visual Memory, Discrimination, Observation, Relationship Concepts, Arithmetical Reasoning, Verbal and Figure Classification, Arithmetical Number Series.
- General Awareness (50 marks) – History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Policy and Scientific Research.
- Quantitative Aptitude (50 marks) – Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Statistics.

Tier-II Examination:
- Quantitative Abilities (200 marks) – Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Statistics.
- English Language and Comprehension (200 marks) – Spotting Errors, Phrase Replacement, Idioms and Phrases, One Word Substitution, Active and Passive Voice, Reading Comprehension.
- Statistics (200 marks) – Collection, Analysis, Interpretation, and Presentation of Data.
- General Studies (Finance and Economics) (200 marks) – Financial Accounting, Indirect and Direct Taxation, Budget, International Trade and Finance, Indian Economy, and Indian Financial System.
Tier-III Examination:
- Descriptive Paper in English/Hindi (100 marks) – Letter Writing, Essay Writing, Précis Writing, and Comprehension.
Tier-IV Examination:
- Computer Proficiency Test/Data Entry Skill Test (where applicable)
