Karnataka PGCET is your gateway to MBA, MCA and M.Tech seats in the state, run each year by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). This guide covers registration, eligibility, syllabus and the exam pattern for the PGCET 2027 cycle, with a note on where the 2026 cycle stands right now.
The PGCET 2026 exam was held on 14 June 2026. The result is expected around July or August 2026, with counselling through August and September. If you are a 2026 candidate, follow that process on the KEA site. This guide looks ahead to PGCET 2027.

Based on past cycles, PGCET 2027 registration is expected around March or April 2027, with the exam a few weeks later. KEA has not announced official dates yet, so treat this as a planning guide and confirm on cetonline.karnataka.gov.in/kea when the notice is out.
Who can apply
MBA: a bachelor’s degree with at least 50 percent marks, and 45 percent for SC and ST candidates.
MCA: a bachelor’s degree with mathematics or a related subject such as statistics, computer science or computer applications, again with at least 50 percent marks and 45 percent for SC and ST candidates. Confirm the exact list of qualifying subjects on the KEA brochure for the year.
Exam pattern and syllabus
The pattern differs by course, and KEA can revise it, so always check the current brochure. As a broad guide from recent cycles:

For MBA, focus on quantitative analysis and reasoning, since a steady score there lifts your rank. Cover English grammar and vocabulary, and keep up with general knowledge. For MCA, mathematics and computer awareness carry the most weight.
Starting early for PGCET 2027?

How registration usually works
- Register on the KEA site to generate your application number.
- Log in and complete the form with your personal and academic details.
- Upload a scanned photo and signature in the sizes KEA specifies.
- Pay the application fee online. The amount depends on your category, so check the current figure on the KEA notice.
- Submit and save a printout for your records.
Once the form is submitted, edits are usually not allowed. Read every field, especially your name, category and course choice, before you pay and lock the form.
After the exam
KEA releases an answer key, then the result and rank card, followed by online counselling — document verification, option entry, seat allotment and fee payment. Keep your certificates ready and check the KEA dashboard daily during counselling.
