Biggest question to everyone is What After CAT 2025
1️⃣ First, Celebrate—Then Mark These Key Post-CAT Dates 📅
The CAT 2025 exam is likely to be held on Sunday, 30 November 2025, with the official result expected in the first week of January 2026. These dates mirror the CAT-2024 timeline, so pencil them in now while you’re still in prep mode.
| Milestone | Expected Window (2025-26 cycle) | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| CAT 2025 exam day | 30 Nov 2025 (Sun) | Raw score locked in across three slots |
| Answer-key challenge | 2–3 Dec 2025 | Chance to claim any bonus marks |
| Scorecard release | 6–7 Jan 2026 | Percentile + sectional breakdown goes live |
| IIM shortlists | Mid-Jan 2026 onward | Email/SMS invites for WAT-PI-PIs |
| Non-IIM calls (SPJIMR, MDI, etc.) | Jan–Feb 2026 | Institute-specific forms close quickly |
| Final offers | Apr–May 2026 | Pay the seat-acceptance fee and exhale |
2️⃣ Decoding That Scorecard: Raw Score 👉 Scaled Score 👉 Percentile
When your CAT 2025 result drops, remember that the scaled score is what institutes read—not your raw tally. A 99+ percentile in VARC, for instance, means you finished in the top 1 % of ~3 lakh candidates—powerful bragging rights for interview day.
Quick maths (illustrative)
| Section | Raw Attempts | Correct | Scaled Score (CAT’s equi-percentile formula) | Percentile (est.) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| VARC | 24 | 21 | 72 | 98.7 |
| DILR | 20 | 17 | 56 | 96.5 |
| QA | 22 | 20 | 64 | 97.8 |
| Overall | 66 | 58 | 192 | 98.9 |
Use that percentile to gauge where to apply (see next section).
3️⃣ Building Your College List—Before the Shortlists Drop 🎯
A. IIMs (Old, New & Baby)
| Cluster | Typical Cut-offs (overall) | Post-CAT stages |
|---|---|---|
| Old IIMs (A, B, C, L, K, I) | 99–99.5 %ile | WAT + PI |
| New & Baby IIMs | 90–97 %ile | WAT / PI, some add GD or extempore |
B. Top Non-IIM B-schools
- FMS-Delhi – 98 %ile cut-off, famous ₹2 lakh fee.
- SPJIMR Mumbai – Profile-based call at 85+ %ile; CAT only 95 %ile.
- XLRI (via XAT) – Keep XAT-2026 form handy—same January interview season.
- MDI Gurgaon & IIFT – Application windows close within 10–15 days of CAT results.
🎯 Pro tip: Create a Google Sheet with three tabs—Dream, Competitive, Safe—and log fees, cut-offs, ROI, deadlines.
4️⃣ Filling Those Application Forms (Yes, They Sneak Up Fast!) 📝
- Immediately after the result, pay for institute forms (₹2k–₹3.5k each).
- Keep PDFs of class X, XII, graduation marksheets, caste/NC-OBC/EWS certs, and work-ex proof ready—upload errors delay your shortlist.
- Track deadlines through the official portals – most close within two weeks of the CAT scorecard release.
