PGCET 2026 Counselling Documents: The Full KEA Checklist

Where PGCET 2026 stands right now

The Karnataka PGCET 2026 exam for MBA and MCA was held on 14 June 2026. The provisional answer key came out soon after, and the objection window has closed. The next two things on the calendar are the result and KEA counselling. Most trackers expect the result around late July or early August 2026, with counselling starting soon after.

That puts you in the one quiet stretch of the whole admission season. There is nothing to write and nothing to submit yet. This gap is exactly when smart candidates get their documents in order — because the moment verification dates are announced, everyone rushes to the same offices at the same time.

Why documents decide more than you think

Your rank decides which seats you can reach. Your documents decide whether you can actually claim them. Document verification is the first gate of KEA counselling — option entry and seat allotment come only after you clear it.

If a certificate behind a reservation claim is missing or wrong on the day, you risk losing that claim for the entire counselling, even when your rank was good enough for the seat. The good news: almost every common document problem is fixable, if you start now instead of the week verification opens.

The core documents every candidate needs

This is the standard set KEA has asked for in recent years. The exact 2026 list comes with the counselling notification — read it once, fully, before verification day.

• PGCET 2026 admit card. Keep the printout you used on exam day.
• PGCET application form printout. The confirmation page from when you applied.
• PGCET 2026 scorecard. Download and print it as soon as the result is out.
• SSLC or 10th marks card. This is your name and date-of-birth proof. Every other document is checked against it.
• PUC or 12th marks card.
• Degree marks cards — all years, all semesters. Not just the final one. Missing even one semester card causes trouble.
• Degree certificate or provisional certificate. If you are a final-year student waiting for results, check the notification for what is accepted in place of it, and keep your college letters ready.
• Photo ID. Aadhaar is the simplest.
• Passport-size photographs. A few recent ones, same photo as the application if possible.

Certificates for reservation claims

These matter only if you are claiming a reservation or a special category. The rule is simple: every claim needs its own certificate, in the format meant for admissions, issued by the right authority. A general-purpose copy lying at home may not be in the accepted format.

• Caste or category certificate. Issued in Karnataka through the tahsildar office or Nadakacheri. Ask specifically for the format used for admissions, and make sure it is in your name — not a parent’s.
• Income certificate. Needed along with some category claims. Check the issue date — an old certificate may no longer be valid.
• Kalyana Karnataka (371-J) eligibility certificate. Only if you claim this quota. It has its own issuing process, so it takes the longest — start first.
• Study certificates. Some claims need proof that you studied in Karnataka. These come from the schools and colleges where you studied.
• Other special claims. PwD, defence and similar categories each have their own papers. The notification lists which claims apply to PGCET and in what format.

If you are applying from outside Karnataka, relax — PGCET is open to out-of-state candidates, you compete in the general quota, and the core set above is usually all you need.

Six problems that surface at verification — fix them this week

• Name spelling differs across documents. “Pavithra” on the SSLC card, “Pavitra” on the degree. Small mismatches often pass, but do not gamble — ask the issuing office about a correction or keep a sworn affidavit ready.
• Caste or income certificate in a parent’s name. Very common, and it will not work. Apply for a fresh one in your own name now.
• Expired income certificate. Check the date today. Reapplying is easy online, but not on the morning of verification.
• One semester marks card missing. A duplicate from the university can take weeks. This is the single best reason to start early.
• Final semester result still awaited. Read what the notification allows, and collect whatever your college can give — completed-semester marks cards and a course-completion or bonafide letter.
• An original stuck somewhere else. With an employer, a bank, or an old hostel file. Verification wants originals. Retrieve them early.

What happens after verification

A simple folder system for verification day

Do not carry a loose bundle. Build three sets this week:

• The original folder. Every original, arranged in the order of the checklist above, in one transparent folder.
• Two photocopy sets. A full photocopy of everything, twice. One set may be collected; the second is your backup.
• A digital set. Scan everything as clear PDFs. Keep them on your phone and email a copy to yourself.

Seats in counselling are rarely lost to big dramatic mistakes. They are lost to a missing marks card, an expired certificate, a name spelt two ways.
