CLAT eligibility for 2025 has been set by the Consortium of NLUs for students for admission into law courses. To be eligible for CLAT 2025 exam, you must clear your class 10+2 from a recognized board. As per the official notification, there is no minimum or upper age limit set. Common Law admission test helps you get into 24 National law schools in India along with which many other top law schools accept CLAT scores.

EXAM DATES FOR THE YEAR 2025

  • CLAT 2025 exam scheduled to be conducted on December 1, 2024 and the registration process has started on July 1st 2024.
  • The minimum qualifying marks set for General/OBC/PWD/NRI/PIO/OCI categories is 45% and 40% for SC/ST categories

If you are appearing in class 12 in March or April 2024, you can still appear in CLAT 2025 examination. Also, Foreign Nationals/NRI/NRI Sponsored are eligible to apply for CLAT exam. But they must meet the eligibility criteria as set by the respective NLUs. Meeting the aforementioned criteria, you can fill CLAT 2025 application form.

CLAT ELIGIBILITY 2025 – NATIONALITY 

  • As per the previous year’s official notification, Indian Nationals, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), and Foreign Nationals are eligible to apply for the CLAT PG Exam 2025. 
  • However, NRI and Foreign nationals must apply for the exam through the NRI quota offered by the CLAT participating colleges

CLAT ELIGIBILITY 2025 AGE LIMIT

As per the official notification by the Consortium of NLUs, there is no age limit to appear for CLAT 2025 exam. But students must meet other eligibility criteria to be able to sit for CLAT 2025.

CLAT ELIGIBILITY 2025 EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

Candidates appearing for CLAT UG 2025 must meet the following qualifications to be eligible for the exam:

  • The candidates of General/OBC/PWD/NRI/PIO/OCI categories need to secure 45% aggregate marks in their 10+2 or equivalent exams.
  • The candidates of SC/ST categories need to secure 40% aggregate marks in their 10+2 or equivalent exams. 
  • Candidates who will be giving their class 12th exam in 2025 are also eligible to apply for CLAT 2025. However, they must provide the Class 12 exam mark sheet and certificate during the admission process.

1. Eligibility for UG Programs (LL.B.)

To apply for CLAT’s UG program, aspiring candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must have completed their Higher Secondary School/Intermediate (10+2) or equivalent examination from a recognized board.
  • Minimum Marks:
    • General/OBC/EWS candidates need to secure at least 45% marks in their qualifying exam.
    • SC/ST/PwD candidates must secure a minimum of 40% marks.
  • Age Limit: There is no upper age limit for UG programs. This change has broadened the scope for many aspirants.

CLAT 2025 ELIGIBILITY FOR FINAL YEAR STUDENTS

Students who are appearing for class 12th board exam in 2025 are also eligible to apply for CLAT 2025. However, students must provide a proof of passing the exam during the time of admission process.

  • The candidates of General/OBC/PWD/NRI/PIO/OCI categories must have passed their LLB degree or equivalent exam with 50% aggregate marks.
  • The candidates of SC/ST categories must have passed their LLB degree or equivalent exam with 45% aggregate marks.
  • Candidates who will be giving their final year are also eligible to apply for CLAT 2025. However, they must provide the final year mark sheet and certificate during the admission process.

CLAT ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA 2025 FOR NRI STUDENTS

If you’re an NRI aspirant seeking admission under the NRI quota, you must meet specific eligibility criteria for the CLAT test and complete the necessary admission steps.

  • Admissions are based on merit scores, and the university decides the CLAT Seat Allotment under the NRI Quota.
  • Contact the university for admission details, eligibility, required documents, and other queries.
  • If foreign national seats are unavailable, they’ll become NRI/NRI-sponsored seats, and admission will be based on CLAT ranking.
  • The CLAT Office will issue the list of eligible candidates for admission under this category.

Foreign National students or NRI/NRI sponsored students are also eligible to sit for CLAT exam on condition that they must qualify the required criteria.

The CLAT eligibility for international students might differ in some NLUs; therefore, such students are advised to check the official website of the respective NLUs.

CONCLUSION

The Consortium of NLUs has prescribed the CLAT 2025 eligibility criteria for UG and PG programmes. The CLAT eligibility criteria 2025 are the conditions and requirements that candidates must meet before registering for the exam. Only those candidates who meet the CLAT exam eligibility will be considered for admission.
